Nortec Collective
Ensemble Nortec Collective was formed in 1999 in Tijuana, Mexico. They pioneered combining Mexican Norteño sounds with techno beats and combined the two to create the name “Nortec.” The band consists of members Bostich, Clorofila, Fussible, Hiperboreal, and Panoptica.
They signed with Palm Pictures in 2001 and released their debut album, “Tijuana Session Volume 1.” Their second album, “Tijuana Session Volume 3,” and was nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards. They have toured globally including performances at the Kennedy Center, the Winter Music Conference, and Royal Festival Hall. They were invited to perform at the Expo 2000 by former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo. In 2008, the group decided to release projects separately. Bostich and Fussible were nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album for “Tijuana Sound Machine.” Clorofila released “Corridos Urbanos” in 2010, and Bostich and Fussible released a second album, “Bulevar 2000,” in 2010 as well. Hiperboreal released “Border Revolver” in 2012, and the third release by Bostich and Fussible, “Motel Baja,” came out in 2014. In 2015, Bostich and Fussible decided to go their own separate ways and work on projects individually.
