The Joy Formidable

Coming from North Wales, United Kingdom, The Joy Formidable was formed in 2007. Originally members of the band Sidecar Kisses, members Ritzy Bryan and Rhydian Dafyd left and launched their own band The Joy Formidable. The Welsh-descent band resettled in London where they were joined by Matt Thomas. In 2008, The Joy Formidable started appearing at British festivals and earned high marks from different publications.

Their mini album “A Balloon Called Moaning” was released in 2009. They then toured with other bands like the Editors and Passion Pit. Their live album “First You Have to Get Mad” was issued soon after. They signed under Black Bell Records where their “A Balloon Called Moaning” was further released.
