Andre Charles “RuPaul”
RuPaul, born RuPaul Andre Charles on November 17th 1960 in San Diego is an American author, television personality, songwriter, singer, model actor and drag queen. Becoming a fixture in the nightclub scenes, RuPaul garnered fame with his single Supermodel (You Better Work) which was a part of his debut album, and then went on to become a cosmetic spokes model, release fourteen albums and later become an actor, in films such as Crooklyn, To Wong Foo and television shows such as Girlboss.
Despite his considerable success in pop music and as an actor, RuPaul is still best known for his long running reality competition show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, which has so far won two Emmy Awards and is often labelled to be one of the most influential people in the world.
