Thievery Corporation
Thievery Corporation is a recording Artist and DJ collective group based out of Washington, D.C. The group consists of Rob Garza, Eric Hilton, Rob Myers, Loulou Ghelichkhani, Natalia Clavier, Frank ‘Booty Lock’ Mitchell, Mr. Lif, Jeff Franca, Ashish Vyas and Racquel Jones. The group formed in 1995 and specializes in mixing elements of dub, acid jazz, reggae, Indian classical music, Middle Eastern music, hip-hop, electronica, Brazilian music, and bossa nova. In 1996 Rob Garza and Eric Hilton began their own label called Eighteenth Street Lounge Music record label. They released their debut EP on vynil called Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. The first two singles from the EP, “Shaolin Satellite” and “2001: a Spliff Odyssey.” In 2000 and 2002 they released The Mirror Conspiracy EP and The Richest Man in Babylon, a fifteen track album. In 2004 they released a new album called The Cosmic Game which featured guest vocals by Perry Farrell, David Byrne, and Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips. They continued to release albums up to 2017 with their most recent release entitled The Temple of I & I.
