Gary Lineker
Gary Lineker is an English former professional footballer and current sports broadcaster, born in Leicester, England on November 30, 1960. He currently hosts BT Sport’s coverage of the UEFA Champions League. He has also worked for Al Jazeera Sports, NBC Sports Network, and Eredivisie Live. Lineker started his football career in 1976 as a youth playing for Leicester City. He made his senior debut in 1978 with Leicester City. Lineker went on to play with the teams Everton, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and Nagoya Grampus Eight. He also played with the English national team from 1984 to 1992. He holds England’s record for most goals in the FIFA World Cup finals with 10. Throughout his football career he received numerous awards, including the FIFA Fair Play Award in 1990, the FIFA World Player of the Year in 1991, the FWA Tribute Award in 1997 and many more. After retiring from football, he started his media career with BBC, presenting the flagship football programme Match of the Day. Lineker was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
