Gareth Edwards
Gareth Edwards was born in Nuneaton, United Kingdom on June 1, 1975. Edwards attended the University of Creative Arts in Farnham, where he studied Film and Video. He broke into the industry by starting his career creating special effects for channels such as PBS, Discovery Channel and BBC. Edwards created the special effects for the popular film Monsters, which later grew him attention from major studios such as Warner Bros. He won the Best Director award at the British Independent Film Awards in 2010.
In 2014, Edwards earned his first Hollywood director title for the film Godzilla, which grossed $529 million with a budget of only $160 million. Most recently in 2016, he directed Rogue One. For his work in Rogue One, he won a Best Director Empire Award in 2017.
