Haifaa al-Mansour
Haifaa al-Mansour is a Saudi Arabian film director born in Saudi Arabia on August 10, 1974. al-Mansour is the first female Saudi filmmaker and is one of the best known and most controversial directors in the country. She started her film career in 1997 making the short film Who?. In 2012 she made her full-length film debut with the movie Wadjda and has since directed the films Mary Shelley and Nappily Ever After. She has also released the short film The Only Way Out and the documentaries The Bitter Journey and Women Without Shadows. In 2019 she directed her first television show with an episode of the show The Society. That same year she received a Crystal Award at the World Economic Forums.
