Hugh Jackman
Hugh Michael Jackman was born on October 12, 1968 in Sydney, Australia. His early career comprised of mainly theatre roles, most notably in Oklahoma in London’s West End. His performance as Curly won him an Olivier Award in 1998.
His big screen breakthrough came in X-Men (2000) in which he played Wolverine alongside a stellar cast including Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry and James Marsden. It is a role he has reprised many times since in movies such as X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), The Wolverine (2013) and X-Men: Apocalypse (2015). He announced that Logan (2017) would be the last time he would play Wolverine.
Away from X-Men, Jackman’s film credits include Van Helsing (2004), The Prestige (2006) and Kate & Leopold (2001) for which he was nominated for a Best Actor Golden Globe. In 2008, he also starred in Australia with Nicole Kidman in the epic Baz Lurman movie.
Jackman’s performance as Jean Valjean in musical Les Miserables (2012) won him a Golden Globe for Best Actor. He performed songs from many musicals, including Les Mis, when he toured Australia in 2015 with his show, Broadway to Oz.
