Adekunle Gold, born Kosoko Adekunle, is a Nigerian-based singer-songwriter, musician, and graphic designer of royal birth, currently signed to YBNL Nation Record Label. He began his music career singing in his church choir, and at age fifteen, began writing his own songs. Gold cites his influences as Sunny Ade, Bruno Mars, Nubia, Ebenezer Obe, and The Script, pulling sounds from music genres like highlife, Yoruba, and Hindi.
Gold’s break into the music business came when he formed the group, The Bridge, with a childhood friend. The Bridge produced songs like “Non-Breaker,” and “Make It Happen,” before separating in 2015. Gold went on to release his first solo EP, Gold, which peaked at #7 on the Billboard World Charts. His most popular songs, with over a million views each on YouTube, include “Sade,” “Orente,” and “Pick Up.”
