Alek Wek was born April 16th, 1977 in Bahr al Ghazal, Sudan. She is best known as being one of the first dark skinned models in mainstream fashion. Alek began modeling at the age of eighteen, making her debut in Tina Turner’s music video for the song “GoldenEye.” She has since worked for Victoria’s Secret, Clinique, Chanel, Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Fendi, Armani, Christian Dior, Moschino, and GAP. As an actress, Alek played in the 2002 movie, The Four Feathers.
