Amon Amarth

Coming from Tumba, Sweden, Amon Amarth is a melodic death metal band found in 1992. The roots of the band dates back in 1988 under the name Scum. Members Johan Hegg, Olavi Mikkonen, Anders Hansson, Ted Lundstrom and Niko Kaukinen recorded their first demo entitled “Thor Arise” but was never released because of sound issues. But in 1994, their second demo “Arrival of the Fimbul Winter” quickly sold 1000 copies.

Amon Amarth then signed to Pulverised label releasing their EP “Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds” in 1996. A bit later, Kaukinen left and was replaced by Martin Lopez, releasing another full-length “Once Set from the Golden Hall.” In 1999, Hansson and Lopez also left taking in two new members Johan Soderberg and Fredrik Andersson for the album “The Avenger” in 1999.
