Anna Calvi
Anna Calvi is an English singer, songwriter, and musician born in Twickenham, England on September 24, 1980. She became interested in music at a young age and started playing the violin at 6 years old and the guitar at 8. She went to college at the University of Southampton and studied violin and guitar graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Anna didn’t start singing until her mid-twenties because she was unsure of her voice. In 2011 she released her first studio album self-titled Anna Calvi that earned her the European Border Breakers Award. The album was also nominated for the Mercury Prize and the British Breakthrough Act in 2012. In 2013 she released her second studio album One Breath with the label Domino Records and in 2018 released the album Hunter with the same label. She has also released two EPs titled Strange Weather and Live for Burberry. Throughout her career she has been nominated for a number of awards and has won a Eurosonic Noorderslag Award, a Robber Awards Music Poll Award, and a Music Producers Guild Award.
