Audra McDonald
Audra McDonald is an American actress and singer born in West Berlin, Germany on July 3, 1970. She is best known for her work on Broadway and has been in productions of 110 in the Shade, Carousel, Ragtime, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Porgy and Bess and more. She has won six Tony Awards for her stage acting, more than any other actor, and is the only person to have won all four acting categories. In 1996 she made her debut in film in the movie Seven Servants and has since had roles in the films The Object of My Affection, Cradle Will Rock, Annie, It Runs in the Family, The Best Thief in the World, Rampart, Ricki and the Flash, Beauty and the Beast, and Hello Again. She landed her debut role in a television show in 1999 in the show Homicide: Life on the Street and has also had roles in the shows Mister Sterling, Kidnapped, Private Practice, Grey’s Anatomy, Sesame Street, and others. As a singer she has released a number of solo albums, including Way Back to Paradise, How Glory Goes, Happy Songs, Build a Bridge, Go Back Home, and Sing Happy. Throughout her career she has been nominated for numerous awards and has won 6 Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, and many more.
