Carla Bruni-Sarkozy
Carla Bruni, born Carla Bruni Tedeschi on December 23rd, 1967 in Turin, Italy is an Italian/French singer and songwriter that started her career as a model at the age of 19 for Guess Jeans. She went on to work for designers such as Christian Dior, Givenchy, John Galliano, Yves Saint-Laurent, Chanel, and Versace.
In 1997 Carla ended her modelling career and decided to focus on music. She wrote out some lyrics and sent them to singer Julien Clerc in 1999. He then composed six tracks from her lyrical work on his album in 2000 called Si j’etais elle. In 2002 Carla released her debut album called Quelqu’un m’a dit across Europe. Some of her songs from the album have appeared in the 2005 film Conversations with Other Women. In 2006 her song “Le Plus Beau du Quartier” appeared in a Christmas H&M commercial and then in 2009 in the movie 500 Days of Summer.
In 2004 Carla won an EBBA Award in the category of “European Border Breakers.” She released her second album entitled No Promises in 2007 and her third album, Comme si de rien n’etait in 2008. After marrying the French President in 2008 she went on to release her fourth album in 2013 entitled Little French Songs.
