Cassadee Pope
Singer/songwriter and musician Cassadee Pope was born on August 28, 1989, in West Palm Beach, Florida. While still quite young, she and her friend formed a short-lived band known as Blake, but did not achieve wide success. In 2008, Pope got together with Mike Gentile of Blake, Alex Lipshaw, Michael Moriarty, and Elliot James to create the band Hey Monday. Later that year, they released their debut album Hold on Tight. Pope went on to make a number of appearances alongside other popular artists, including an appearance in the music video for Fall Out Boy’s “America’s Suitehearts” and providing a guest vocal on the remix of the song “Take My Hand” by The Cab.
In 2010, Hey Monday released their EP Beneath it All, and quickly after embarked on a tour with Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, and Yellowcard. 2012 saw the beginning of Pope’s solo career, and she released her debut self-titled EP in 2012. Later that year, she was featured as a contestant on the singing show The Voice, where she gained much recognition as a competent solo performer. She performed the song “Over You”, which went to the #1 spot on the iTunes chart. In early 2013, she signed a contract with the Republic Nashville label, with whom she released her debut single “Wasting All These Tears”. The single went to #7 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and sold more than 100,000 copies its first week. Pope released her much-awaited album Frame by Frame in the fall of 2013.
