Cliff Avril
Cliff Avril is a former American professional football defensive end born in Jacksonville, Florida on April 8, 1986. He played football in high school at Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Florida. As a senior he was a second team All-state selection and was named The Florida Times-Union Super 24 team. He went on to play college football at Purdue University. In 2008 he was selected by the Detroit Lions in the third round, 92nd overall, in the 2008 NFL Draft. He was signed to a three-year contract for $1.6 million. In 2013 he signed a two-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks for $13 million. He became a Super Bowl champion in the 2013 season with the Seahawks after they defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII. In the fourth week of the 2017 season he sustained a serious injury and was placed on injured reserve on October 20, 2017. On May 4, 2018, he was released by the Seahawks with a failed physical designation. Throughout his career he recorded 299 total tackles, 74 sacks, 29 forced fumbles, 7 fumble recoveries, 1 interception, and 1 defensive touchdown.
