Cliff Richard
Cliff Richard is a British pop singer, musician, actor, and philanthropist born in Lucknow, British India on October 14, 1940. His albums have sold over 250 million copies world wide and he is the third top selling artist in UK Singles Chart history behind the Beatles and Elvis Presley. His career has spanned over 60 years and he has released 45 studio albums, 11 live albums, 15 compilation albums, 46 EPs, and 146 singles. He was interested in music from a young age and at 16 taught himself how to play the guitar. He released his debut album Cliff Sings in 1959 and recorded it at Abbey Road Studios in front of a small audience. The album reached number four on the UK Album Chart. In 1959 he made his debut in film in the movie Serious Charge and continued landing roles in films like Expresso Bongo, Summer Holiday, Finders Keepers, Two a Penny, and others. In 1960 he made his debut on television in the show The Cliff Richard Show and has been in the shows Cliff, Cliff and the Shadows, The Case, It’s Cliff and Friends, and more. He has also had roles in theater in productions of Cinderella, Time, Heathcliff, and Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp. Throughout his career he has been nominated for numerous awards and has won three Brit Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards, three TV Times Awards among others.
