Crankdat is the stage moniker of Christian Smith, an EDM producer and DJ based out of Ohio. He’s a rising talent, having ditched a potential athletic career at Kent State to focus on electronic music. He made his festival debut at Ohio’s Number Fest, earning him support from EDM peers including The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, Skrillex, and Diplo.

Crankdat confides in interviews that hip-hop and rap got his interest, since it’s a rare and sought-after genre in Ohio. But it was discovering Skrillex’ EP “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” that he was hooked on the EDM world. His two singles, “Dollars” (2017) and “Reasons to Run” (2018) are still staples of Sirius XM radio stations.
