Darryl ”DMC” McDaniels
DMC is the stage name of Darryl McDaniels who was born on May 31, 1964, in New York City. He created Run-D.M.C. with Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell and Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons. The group dropped the single “It’s Like That/Sucker MCs” which made it to No. 15 of the R&B charts. The group’s greatest success happened on 1986 with the release of Raising Hell which became a platinum album. The group was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They also received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 2006, McDaniels released Checks, Thugs and Rock n Roll which includes the track “Just Like Me” where he collaborated with Sarah McLachlan. Other tracks in the album include “Come 2gether” featuring Rev. Run, “Find My Way” featuring Kid Rock and “Goodbye” featuring Lil Mizzo. He was also the featured artist on Pop Evil’s 2014 track “Trenches.” In 2017 he released the four-track EP Back From the Dead- The Legend Lives.
