Dej Loaf
Dej Loaf is an American rapper born in Detroit, MI. She began writing music at the age of 9 and says that she has used music as an outlet while growing up in the ghetto. She is currently signed to Columbia Records. Her debut track “Try Me,” released on Soundcloud in September 2014, debuted at number two on the Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart, then quickly became number one, where it remained for two weeks. Her second release, in October 2014, also debuted at number two on the same chart. Dej Loaf’s first mix tape, Just Do It, was released in 2012, and she plans to release a mixtape in 2014. “Try Me” has been praised by big-name stars like Drake, and has been unofficially remixed by Wiz Khalifa and Lil Mama. Her stage name comes from an abbreviation of her real first name, Deja, and her desire in high school to wear loafers instead of the stylish sneakers all her classmates wore.
