Denzel Curry, born Denzel Rae Don Curry, is a rapper from Florida who emerged in the early 2010s and gained notoriety as a cloud rap pioneer and for his viciously aggressive rapping style. His released three mixtapes over the course of 2011-2012, which gained the attention of then-up-and-coming rapper Earl Sweatshirt. The mixtapes featured atmospheric production that would prove highly influential to the emerging cloud rap scene. He released his debut album, Nostalgic 64, on C9 to critical acclaim. Propelled by the single “Threatz,” the album featured the likes of Lil Ugly Mane and Robb Bank$. His most recent album, Imperial, was released in 2016 to critical acclaim, boosted by the popular music video for single “ULT.” The album boasts features from Rick Ross and Joey Bada$$.
