Diamond Rio
Diamond Rio is an American country and Christian country music band formed in 1982 in Nashville, Tennessee. The band was formed as an attraction for the theme park Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee. They were first called the Grizzly River Boys, then the Tennessee River Boys, and finally Diamond Rio. The current members of the band are Dan Truman, Marty Roe, Jimmy Olander, Brian Prout, Gene Johnson, and Dana Williams. They were signed to the label Artista Nashville and released their debut single in 1991 titled “Meet in the Middle.” The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart making them the first band to have a debut song reach number one on that chart. That same year they released their debut studio album self-titled Diamond Rio that reached number 13 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and was certified Platinum in the U.S. They have since released the albums Close to the Edge, Love a Little Stronger, IV, Unbelievable, One More Day, Completely, A Diamond Rio Christmas: The Star Still Shines, The Reason, and I Made It. The band has released 10 studio albums, 6 compilation albums, and 1 live album. The band has been nominated for numerous awards and has won a Grammy Award, two Academy of Country Music Awards, and five Country Music Association Awards.
