El Komander
Alfredo Rios, best known as El Komander, was born on January 2, 1983 in Sinaloa, Culiacan, Mexico. He is a Mexican singer and songwriter who is best known for his involvement in the Mexican “alternative movement,” which is a new genre of music that focuses on sensitive topics in Mexico including drug lords and sometimes gruesome facts about the drug wars there. He studied nueva cancion and banda composition and then began performing locally. He was noticed because of his “rowdy” alternative movement songs and he was signed to La Disco Records. On this label, he released En-Vivo!-Desde-Badiragato! in 2006. In 2009, he released “Nomas por Ser Sinaloense” and his album El Katch, which were huge successes. He also appeared in El Ejecutor (2010) and El Pistolero (2012).
