George Thorogood
George Thorogood is a rock musician with deep roots in the blues and a career spanning five decades. He fronts a band called The Destroyers, where he’s the lead vocal and lead guitarist, accompanied by Jim Suhler (rhythm guitar), Billy Blough (bass), Buddy Leach (saxophone, piano), and Jeff Simon (drums). George has built a career partly out of reviving old blues standards, as well as performing his own original work. His self-titled debut album was released on the Rounder label in 1977.
There’s been no looking back for George Thorogood, who has lived to see himself become a legend in his own time. George Thorogood and the Destroyers have released twenty studio albums so far, five of them certified gold, and five live albums, the first certified platinum. While many of their singles only chart in the top 40 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, they are nevertheless well-known radio station favorites and have also been part of the soundtrack in film and TV, including “Top Gear,” “South Park,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “The Muppets,” “Joe Dirt,” “Beavis and Butt-Head,” “Married with Children,” and “Terminator 2.”
