Harrison Smith
Harrison Smith is an American professional football player born in Augusta, Georgia on February 2, 1989. He is currently a safety for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. Smith played football in high school at Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. He went on to play college football at the University of Notre Dame for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team from 2008 to 2011. In 2012 he was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round, 29th overall, in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was signed to a four-year contract for $7.13 million with $5.78 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $3.63 million. In 2015 the Vikings picked up Smiths fifth-year option on his rookie contract. In 2016 he signed a five-year contract extension with the Vikings for $51.25 million with $28.57 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $10 million. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 573 tackles, 12 sacks, 20 interceptions, 46 pass defections, 4 forced fumbles, and 4 defensive touchdowns.
