Julian Casablancas

Julian Casablancas is an American rock musician from New York City, NY. Casablancas is best known as being the frontman for the rock band The Strokes, with whom he has released five studio albums. During hiatuses from The Strokes, he records and performs solo. He has released one solo album, 2009’s Phrazes for the Young, which peaked at number 10 on the US Alternative Rock charts and number 35 on the Billboard 200. As well as his work with The Strokes, Casablancas has also performed with and released an album with The Voidz, under the name Julian Casablancas and the Voidz. He has also collaborated with Daft Punk, Queens of the Stone Age, Eddie Vedder, Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse, and Santigold, among others. Casablancas is the founder of Cult Records. As part of The Strokes, Casablancas is credited with being part of the return to garage rock movement of the early 2000’s; his solo album is more influenced by new-wave and electronica. He has cited Lou Reed, The Cars, and Television among his musical inspirations.
