Caro Zümrüt
Singer Caro Emerald was born Caroline Esmeralda van der Leeuw on April 26, 1981, in the Netherlands. She developed an interest in jazz music when she was very young, and took singing lessons beginning at the age of 12. In her mid-twenties, she was asked by a music producer to sing on a demo that he was producing, and it was then that her talents were discovered as an up-and-coming jazz singer. She charted in her native country with the single “Back it Up” in 2009, which she followed with her debut album Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor the next year. The album went to #1 on the Dutch Album Top 100 chart, and went twice platinum in the Netherlands within just a few months. She would later release her second album The Shocking Miss Emerald in 2013, which was her first album to chart at #1 in the UK. Caro Emerald has also won a number of awards in her career, including the Zilveren Harp in 2010, as well as the Goldene Kamera for Best Music International and the Echo Music Award for Best International Newcomer in 2012.
