Lady Saw
Marion Hall, better known as Lady Saw or the “first lady of dancehall” is a Jamaican reggae singer and DJ best known for her sexually explicit lyrics and stage performances. Among the many credits she has to her name, Hall was the first female DJ to win a Grammy, and also the first female DJ to headline an international tour. It all began when Hall began to deejay at only fifteen, and her career only blew up from there.
Hall released her debut album, Lover Girl, in 1994. This was followed up with 1996’s Give Me The Reason, 1997’s Passion, 1999’s album 99 Ways, and 2004’s Strip Tease. In 2007, Hall released her Walk Out album, which peaked at #8 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. Her most recent project was 2010’s album, My Way.
During her career, Hall has had the opportunity to collaborate with many of her male and female peers. Beenie Man, Sean Paul, Tanya Stephens, Flo Ride, and Shaggy are just a few.
