Melanie Fontana
Singer-songwriter Melanie Fontana was born Melanie Joy Fontana on October 4, 1986 in Newington, Connecticut. She performed locally from a young age and in 2002 FOX TV and WTIC-FM 96.5 in Hartford named her the first “Connecticut Idol.” She has also written parody songs for WTIC-FM’s “Craig and Company” morning show.
Melanie Fontana has done demo work and song-writing for artists in Los Angeles and New York as well as Canada, Sweden and Norway. She co-wrote Norwegian Idol winner, Eirik Søfteland’s first release “Lust or Love” as well as finalist Sverre Eides single” Chain Reaction.” Additional writing credits include Justin Bieber’s “Home This Christmas”, “Shattered” for Astrid Smeplass and “Stay Girls” for K-Pop group Girls Generation.
Melanie co-wrote and performed the song “Shelter Me (Love is Everything) for the PBS show Shelter Me hosted by Katherine Heigl. She has appeared on Say What Karaoke, TRL, Love Monkey, The Flight of the Concords, Live at the Apollo and Rescue Me and is also a voice over actor for Nickelodeon.
