Mercury Rev

Found in 1989 at Buffalo, New York, Mercury Rev is an indie rock band. Members comprise of vocalist David Baker, pickup guitarist Jonathan Donahue, single-exhaust clarinetist Grasshopper, bass flutist Suzanne Thorpe, bass explorer Dave Fridman, and drummer Jimy Chambers. The group doesn’t harmonize personally as existing rifts always happen between them. However, they were able to record music and create soundtracks which defines their individual musicality.

The band name Mercury Rev was variously inspired from the imaginary Russian ballet dancer or a revved up auto. The band experienced problems and disintegration. But they were given a chance when they were offered by Sony to reissue their album “Yerself Is Steam” together with their single “Car Wash Hair.”
