Mike Posner
Born Michael Robert Posner on February 12, 1988, singer/songwriter Mike Posner is a Detroit native, though he was eventually raised in the town of Southfield. Having hip-hop artist Big Sean as a friend, the two began recording music together, with Big Sean helping Mike Posner to release his various mixtapes. Mike Posner recorded much of his early music in his dorm room at Duke University, and he released his second entitled A Matter of Time in 2009. The mixtape went to the #1 slot on the iTunes U chart, which heightened his popularity and led to him signing with J Records in 2009. The next year, Mike Posner released his debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff with the hit single “Cooler Than Me”, which rose to the #6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
Mike Posner continued to release new singles to promote his second studio album Pages throughout 2013. He recorded and released a song which Reebok used in a campaign, and together with Big Sean, was able to create a music video for the song, entitled “Tapada World”. Mike Posner has also been involved in the writing of hit songs from a variety of artists, including “Boyfriend” from Justin Bieber and “Say Somethin” from Austin Mahone.
