Numan Acar
Numan Acar is a Turkish-born German actor, film producer, writer and director. Acar was born in Kozoglu, Kelkit District, and lived until his eighth year in Erzincan in Turkey. In 1982, he emigrated to Germany where he become a civil engineer. After completion of his studies he started an acting career. In 2014, he had his international breakthrough as “Haissam Haqqani” in the prestigious US TV show Homeland, season 4. Further roles followed in the shows Prison Break, 5th season and Jack Ryan, 1st season. Numan worked in feature films with several award-winning directors, Zhang Yimou (China), Ryoo Seung Wan (South Korea), Fatih Akin (Germany), Terry George (Ireland), Guy Ritchie and Asif Kapadi (England). He speaks several languages fluently including German, Turkish, Spanish and English and has knowledge of Kurdish, Arabic and Pashto. He learned Pashto for Homeland (Season 4 and 8). As a writer and producer Numan’s focused on telling stories with high diversity aspects. He developed several television show formats; an animation 10 x 22 minutes, a gangster drama 6 x 60 minutes and feature film scripts with genres Drama, Action and Comedy.
Numan is a member of the German Film Academy and European Film Academy.
