Padma Pakshmi was born September 1st, 1970 in Chennai, India. She moved to the United States as a toddler, and attended Clark University in Massachusetts where she majored in theater. Padma is a poly-linguist; she speaks English, Spanish, Italian, Hindi, and Tamil.

Padma is best known as the host and producer of Top Chef. She has also performed in Glitter, Boom, and The Mistress of Spices.
