Problem
Rapper Problem was born Jason Martin on May 8, 1985, in West Germany. He and his family eventually moved to California, where he was raised in Compton. After taking a stab as writing lyrics, he decided to pursue a music career and was thus able to collaborate with some West Coast artists such as Snoop Dogg and DJ Quik. Problem then went on to create Diamond Lane Music Group with his cousin in 2008, and he later provided guest vocals on the single “Function” by E-40. Having released two mixtapes by that point – Deal or No Deal in 2006 and Deal or No Deal 2: Universal Cut The Check in 2008 – Problem then released the mixtapes Hotels in 2011, Swig Tape, Welcome to Mollywood, and Welcome to Mollywood 2 in 2012, and Million Dollar Afro, Ain’t Nobody Hotter Than Me, and The Separation in 2013. He also released his first EP in 2013 titled Understand Me, which spawned the singles “Like Whaaat” and “Say That Then”.
