Sharleen Spiteri
Sharleen Spiteri is a Scottish singer and songwriter born in Finnieston, Glasgow, Scotland on November 7, 1967. She is a solo artist and the lead singer of the pop rock band Texas. In 1986 she helped form the pop rock band Texas with Johnny McElhone. They have released nine studio albums, three compilation albums, one live album, and one EP. The band has had three number one albums and eight top ten albums in the UK and have sold over 40 million records. Texas was nominated for several awards and won an Ivor Novello Award in 1998 and an NRJ Music Award in 1999. As a solo artist Spiteri was signed with Mercury Records and in 2008 she released her debut solo album titled Melody. The album reached number 3 on the UK Albums chart and was certified gold in the UK. She released her second solo album in 2010 titled The Movie Songbook. The album reached number 13 on the UK Albums chart and also charted in Belgium and France.
