Striking Matches

Striking Matches is an American country music duo from Nashville, Tennessee made up of guitarists Sarah Zimmerman and Justin Davis. The two met at Belmont University in Nashville in 2007 and began to hone their songwriting skills together when they learned they had similar musical tastes. They are influenced by Sam Cooke, Petula Clark, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, and the Dixie Chicks. They released their debut self-titled EP in 2012 and caught the attention of the music executive from television show Nashville. Since then, six of their songs have been featured on the show.

They were signed to I.R.S. Records in 2015 and their debut album, Nothing But the Silence was released that same year. It debuted at #25 on the Top Country Albums chart and reached #1 on the UK’s Country iTunes chart. They released a music video for their single “Hanging on a Lie” in 2015.
