Sufjan Stevens
Sufjan Stevens is an indie rock performer and multi-instrumentalist, who happens to work partly in electronica alongside arcane genres like baroque pop. He is probably best known for his 2017 single “Mystery of Love,” a top-40 charter that was featured in the film “Call Me by Your Name,” garnering Stevens an Oscar nomination. Stevens could be called a progressive artist, between the lo-fi folk and the album “Enjoy Your Rabbit,” with a song cycle based on the animals of the Chinese calendar.
While Sufjan Stevens does not identify with religious music, his work is famous for being light, uplifting, and having spiritual themes. Stevens has released seven studio albums to date, and toured six times to date. His songs are a popular subject for sampling in the hip-hop genre.
