Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Stallone was born on July 6, 1946 in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. His early film roles were minor, including an appearance in Woody Allen’s Bananas (1971). He made TV appearances on Police Story and Kojak. He wrote and starred in 1976’s Rocky, which became a smash hit and earned him worldwide fame, ten Academy Award nominations, and the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Film Editing.

Stallone went on to write, direct and star in sequels throughout the 80’s, including Rocky II (1979), Rocky III (1982), and Rocky IV (1985). He also starred and wrote in another iconic action franchise of the 1980s, Rambo. In the 1990s he branched out into comedies, with Oscar in 1991 and Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot in 1992. He had a comeback returning to the action genre, with Cliffhanger, Demolition Man and Judge Dredd in the 1990s, and The Expendables franchise in 2010. He returned to the films that made him a star with 2006’s Rocky Balboa, 2008’s Rambo, and 2015’s Creed.
