Takuya Kuroda
Takuya Kuroda was born on February 21, 1980 in Ashiya, Hyogo. He is known in Japan to be one of the best Jazz musicians and composers. One of his siblings started out in music before him as a trombonist, and Takuya eventually joined him and fell in love with music.
His music is unique in that it is a type of “daring” jazz music, as opposed to being the typical jazz and Blues music. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music. He befriended fellow Jazz musician José James and they began recording together. He then moved to New York City and finished school at the New School’s Jazz and Contemporary Music program. He played alongside other popular jazz musicians, but eventually released his own album in 2011 titled Edge. The next year, he also released Bitter and High and Six Aces. He has recently signed with Blue Note Records and has worked on Rising Sun with his José James once again.
