Terry Lewis
Terry Lewis was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 21, 1956. He is best known with his partnership with Jimmy Jam and collectively, they are known as Jam and Lewis.
His first foray into producing music was with The S.O.S. Band’s LP On the Rise. This was quickly followed by hits for Thelma Houston, Gladys Knight, and Patti Austin. Their biggest success in producing music was in Janet Jackson’s Control Album. They had another success with “Human” by the Human League. They produced Rhythm Nation 1814, another album for Jackson which yielded popular hits such as “Black Cat” and “Escapade.” Another collaboration with Janet Jackson, topped the charts and the track “That’s The Way Love Goes” made it to number 1. They also worked with Boyz II Men, Vanessa Williams, and Mary J. Blige among others.
