That Poppy
That Poppy, born Moriah Rose Pereira on January 1st, 1995 in Nashville, Tennessee is also known by the moniker ‘Poppy.’ She is an American singer, dancer, and songwriter that began her musical journey in middle school after being inspired by her father who was a drummer in a band. Poppy began her rise to fame through the video platform YouTube in 2014.
Prior to 2014, she performed at numerous social media festivals like VidCon and DigiTour. Poppy has collaborated with independent social media artists like Heyhihello on the cover of MGMT’s track “Kids.” In 2015 Poppy signed to the label Island Records and released her debut single “Everybody Wants to Be Poppy.” She then followed up with the track “Lowlife” featuring Travis Mills. The song found itself on her first EP release in 2016 called Bubblebath. In October of 2016 she released a collection of ambient music to promote sleep health called 3:36 (Music to Sleep To) in conjunction with Titanic Sinclair and the Washington University School of Medicine.
In 2017 Poppy won a Streamy Award for “Breakthrough Artist.” In October of the same year she released her debut album called Poppy.Computer under the label Mad Decent. She also began a concert tour in Vancouver, B.C. the same month.
