Tim Armstrong

Born in November 25, 1965, Timothy Armstrong came from Albany, California. As a singer, songwriter, actor, and producer, he plays different sorts of punk music. He is also known to play for the band Rancid. His musical career traces back in Oakland, California where he and his childhood friend Matt Freeman started to play punk music. Their musical inspiration was the Clash’s opening performance for the Who in 1982.

The two formed the punk band Operation Ivy in 1987, but broke up in 1989. They formed another band Downfall which also disbanded after only three shows. Armstrong had a drinking problem while Freeman played for another band. In 1991, Armstrong and Freeman, together with Brett Reed formed Rancid.
