Tina Lifford
Tina Lifford is an American actress and playwright. Graduating from the University of Santa Monica, her career began in the 1980’s with shows such as Murder she wrote and Hill Street Blues. Holding a recurring role in the soap opera Knots Landing, she had her breakthrough role in 1994 when she played the lead role in the critically acclaimed television show South Central, playing Joan alongside Larenz Tate and Maia Campbell.
Since the show ended, the actress has worked in film roles such as Pay It Forward, Joe Somebody and Blood Work. She has also held guest roles in over fifty television shows such as NYPD Blue, ER, Nip/Tuck, and many others. Her first main role since South Central came with the drama Queen Sugar, a television show produced by Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey, in the series she plays Violet Bordelon.
