Born on May 24, 1938, Thomas B. Kin Chong came from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His parents are Stanley Chong, a Chinese immigrant and his mother is Lorna Jean. He is a former guitarist of the band “Bobby Taylor & the Vancouvers” co-writing the song “Does Your Mama Know About Me.” He also does stand-up comic acts with his wife Shelby Chong.
He served time in prison during the US Drug Enforcement Administration’s “Operation Pipe Dreams.” In the mid-1990s, Tommy Chong’s death rumor was spread, with great exaggeration. As an actor, he is known for “Up in Smoke,” “Zootopia,” and “After Hours.”
