Troy Ave
Roland Collins, known by his stage name of Troy Ave, was born on November 23, 1985, in Brooklyn, New York. He derived his name from one of the streets that was near his home, Troy Avenue. Realizing his passion for music, Troy Ave took to the streets of Brooklyn and began selling his mixtapes to fund his recording. This paid off, as he was quickly signed to Voicez/Universal Def Jam records, and the video for his song “Rep it wit My Heart” was played on the show Rap City. This was his first major foray into the rap industry.
After releasing a number of mixtapes beginning in 2009, Troy Ave finally released his debut album New York City: The Album in 2013 under BSB Records. The album peaked at the #47 spot on the U.S. Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Chart. He has sold over 50,000 albums, mostly out of the trunk of his Jeep in New York City. He has since gained the opportunity to work with artists such as P. Diddy and T.I.
