Usher Raymond IV, better known to the world as Usher, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on October 14, 1978. As a young teenager, he appeared on the television show Star Search, where he gained enough recognition to sign with LaFace Records. His debut album Usher came out shortly after, when he was just 15 years old. His career was just getting started, and at the age of 18, he released his sophomore album My Way in 1997, which included the hit singles “You Make Me Wanna” and “Nice & Slow”. The album sold more than 7 million copies, and got him worldwide recognition for his melodic voice and smooth R&B sound.

Usher released 8701 in 2001, one of his most successful endeavors yet, on which was featured the #1 hit “U Got it Bad” and his two singles “U Remind Me” and “U Don’t Have to Call”, both of which earned him a Grammy award. 8701 enjoyed sales of over 4 million copies just in the United States. Usher later released Confessions in 2004, which sold 20 million copies worldwide, followed by Raymond v. Raymond in 2010, which won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album. To date, the singer has won 5 Grammy Awards, 17 Billboard Music Awards, and 8 Soul Train Music Awards.
