Zaz
Zaz is the stage name of the French musician Isabelle Geffroy. She was born in Tours, France on May 1, 1980. Zaz is best known for her single “Je veux” and for her unique blending of jazz, French variety, soul, and acoustic into her music. As a child she learned how to play the piano, violin, and guitar and took singing lessons. In 2000 she won a scholarship to attend a school of modern music in Bordeaux. She started her singing career in 2001 in the band Fifty Fingers. She decided to pursue a solo career and released her first album Zaz in 2010. The album reached the number one spot on charts in France, Belgium and Poland. In 2011 she won an EBBA Award for her album. She went on to record three more studio albums titled Recto Verso, Paris, and Effet Miroir. She also released two Live albums Sans tsu Tsou Live Tour and Sur la route. In 2014 she was nominated for 5 different World Music Awards.
